NOTD - PCF Nails Inspired By Favourite Jewellery

Hey lovelies!

Today I am participating in Purple Crumpet Fairy's Friday Challenge. The theme is "nails inspired by your favourite piece of jewellery" and was chosen by the lovely Joy.

I was really excited about this theme as I have plenty of jewellery to choose from but when it came down to it I ended up choosing one of my favourite rings which happened to be a simple design and I think I could have done better by using another piece of jewellery as this didn't push my nail art skills but I just simply didn't have the time.

For this mani I used Club's "New Bohemian" which is a mint green creme colour from the Back to Boho Collection 2011. I painted all fingers except for my ring finger which I used as my accent and decided to re-create my ring on. I used Barry M's "Silver Foil" and Andrea Fulerton's "Dot & Flick" nail art pen for the black lines.

This was so simple to re-create so didn't take much imagination. I could have done a lot better ... Maybe next time!

PCF Christmas Challenge Day 25 - Christmas Day Mani

Merry Christmas Lovelies!

Sorry this post is a belated one but what with the festivities yesterday I simply didn't have time as was too busy enjoying my baby girl's first Christmas! I don't know about you, but I received some great polishes from family and friends which will take me a long way into the New Year! Hope you all were as spoilt as I was!

Well, I painted my nails on Christmas Eve ready for Christmas Day and for this mani I used OPI's "Speak For Your Elf" which is from the ULTA Exclusive Holiday Deck Your Nails Collection 2011. It is a red based glitter with lots of red micro glitter packed throughout. I knew this polish had to be used for my Christmas mani not just because of the name but how beautiful it looked in the bottle. I applied three coats to reach opacity as it is a sheer jelly. I had zero issues with application.

To spice this mani up a bit I decided to go for a gradient glitter effect again. For the glitter tips I used Color Club's "Gingerbread" from the Beyond The Mistletoe Collection 2011. This is a clear based polish with gold and holographic micro glitter - super sparkly! To create the gradient effect I brushed a thin coat from a third of the way down the nail. After that had dried I painted a thicker coat just a bit above and then after that coat dried I painted a thicker coat towards the tip end of the nail. To be honest I am not all that pleased as I think I could have done better as I was a bit too heavy handed especially when it came to painting my right hand! I do think this mani looks extremely festive though and I don't want to take it off it's too pretty!

My First Post and it's a NOTD

Well this is my first official post and hopefully will be the first of many NOTD's.
Today I am wearing Essie Carry On from the Fall 2011 Collection. It is a deep plum purple creme. The formula is good and I used two coats to achieve complete opacity. The polish is vampy and perfect for fall! As much as the mani looked lovely on its own I decided to put some Color Club Covered In Diamonds of the ring fingers for something extra - not to mention the fact that I love the accent fingers trend ATM. I feel like the polish looks almost black on me and is perhaps a bit too dark but at this time of the year it is warming!

I used OPI Nail Envy as base and Seche Vite as Top Coat.
